Here is the recipe that I use for making my aforementioned meat mixture which becomes either 3 meatloaves or a meatloaf or two and several meals' worth of meatballs. This is completely kid-approved here!!
Meat Mix
3 lbs. ground beef
1 1/3 c. quick oats
1 1/2 t. salt
1 t. garlic powder
1 t. onion powder
3 eggs
1 can tomato sauce
1/3 - 1/2 c. ketchup
Mix everything together (a messy task) and either shape into balls (I use a cookie scoop), press out flat onto a cookie sheet (you can then cook and cut into square meat"balls" - the quickest way to do it) or place in loaf pans. Bake at 375° for an hour for the meatloaves, 30-40 minutes for the cookie sheet full, or 20-25 minutes for regular meatballs. Be sure to test for doneness - there should be no pink remaining.
Now get cooking! :-)

I love meatloaf, but my husband hates it. Sounds good though.
ReplyDeleteThe kids I nanny for like when I make letters instead of meatballs and spell out their names!
ReplyDeleteYaya, that's a great idea! Too bad I don't have little ones to do that for. I don't know that my 24 and 25 year olds would appreciate that. Ha! ;)
ReplyDeleteJanelle, this recipe sounds like it rocks and I'm going to make it, perhaps today!
